Albania secured another medal in wrestling, as Zelimkhan Abakarov went to the final of the "Polyak Imre and Varga Janos Memorial" event that is taking place in Budapest.
The Chechen, naturalized as an Albanian, defeated the Kazakh Vladimir Kudrin in the semi-finals, with the latter limping off the mat. The match was fought until the last moments, as Abakarov was attentive and hit the opponent in key points. 12-6 for the red and black sportsman, who goes to the finals of weight up to 61 kilograms in the free bench.
Abakarov now has it in his hands if the red and black anthem will be heard in Hungary, otherwise he will be satisfied with the silver medal. The reigning European champion has not yet learned the opponent of the final, hoping for the gold.
We remind you that yesterday for the category up to 65 kilograms in freestyle, the athlete representing the red and black colors, Islam Dudaev, won the bronze medal, taking the third place.
