Judo champion Akil Gjakova was declared wanted, because he is accused of domestic violence. Gjakova reacted on social networks where she shared a post of the Judo Federation in Kosovo.
The federation states that the judoka is not outside the territory of Kosovo and will immediately be handed over to the law and justice authorities as soon as he returns to the country.
" We believe in the innocence of Akhil and we hope that the law enforcement bodies will clarify the case as soon as possible ", writes the Federation, adding that it strongly condemns any form of violence.

The Judo Federation of Kosovo strongly condemns any form of violence and we are deeply concerned about the recent events in our country.
We make it a priority to protect and promote gender equality, which is proven by the outstanding achievements and excellent support of our female athletes.
We believe in Akil's innocence and hope that the law enforcement agencies will solve the case as soon as possible. Therefore, we invite the media to show prudence in handling this case and stop smearing and public judgment of one of the figures who continues to promote the positive image of our country.
Akili is currently outside the territory of Kosovo, and will be immediately handed over to the law and justice authorities the moment he arrives in Kosovo.
