The "anxiety" of the European/ Plane tickets reach stratospheric

The Albanian national team scored another historic achievement, qualifying for the second time in the European Championship, which will take place in Germany from June 14 to July 14. Interest in following the National Team and other European matches is naturally great, but this comes at a high cost. Traveling to German cities seems very expensive, costing over 300 euros one way and around 200 euros return, for a total of 500 euros both ways.

The tightening of tickets seems to be related to the high demand to travel to Germany for the European matches, as it is specific only to the cities where the matches will take place or those close to them (then you can travel by train to the desired destination) , to travel e.g. to Italy in June is much cheaper, with round-trip tickets that you can find for as little as 50 euros.

For example, to go to Dortmund on June 14, the day before the National Team's first match with Italy, the outbound ticket costs 309 euros and for the return on the 16th it is 254 euros. In total, the ticket costs over 500 euros. On the same dates, to go to Milan, for example, one-way tickets cost from 30 euros, and return tickets cost 24 euros.

Dortmund remains expensive throughout June, although slightly cheaper than on the day of the match, but again prices do not drop below 300 euros round trip. On June 18, the National Team has the second match of the group stage with Croatia, which will take place in Hamburg. The departure on June 17 costs 255 euros and the return on June 19 is about 190 euros. While on June 30, e.g. the trip to Hamburg costs 550 euros.

For the match on June 24, "Albania-Spain" in Düsseldorf, there is no direct line to this city. The two closest alternatives are Dortmund, going to which on June 23 costs 230 euros and returning on the 25th costs up to 254 euros.

Tickets have become more expensive in countries that are close to Germany and are accessible by train. For example, on June 14, the day before the match with Italy, the return trip from Tirana to Einthoven (which is an hour and 50 minutes by train from Düsseldorf) is 205 euros. At the beginning of the month, tickets to Einthoven fluctuate between 30-60 euros one way. The same trend for tickets to Brussels, which is about 3 hours away by train.

In recent years, plane tickets have decreased significantly as a result of the entry of low cost operators, but for the peak of the season such as in August or December, tickets always jump, reaching the record for European matches. Market players claim that one of the reasons for the increase in prices is related to the fact that travel agencies have pre-purchased many tickets for the championship period, ahead of the high demand for tickets in the month of the European Championship.
