A deep sadness has enveloped German giants Bayern Munich, following the sad news of the passing of the 6-year-old son of goalkeeper Sven Ulreich.
The 36-year-old Bavarian goalkeeper announced his tragic loss via an Instagram post. Len passed away after a battle with a serious illness, which Ulreich did not want to mention.
Ulreich, who has played for Bayern since 2015 (with a brief spell at Hamburg), said that he, along with his wife and daughter, are trying to regain their strength after the heavy defeat.
"It is with deep sadness that we would like to inform you today that our son Len passed away after a long and serious illness.
The decision to announce this publicly is extremely difficult for us, but it is an important step for us as a family, to create clarity for both those around us and the general public. Together with our daughter, we are now trying, step by step, to return to life.
A special thank you to our families, friends and Bayern Munich for their great discretion and support over the last few months. It means a lot to us.
"We ask the public and media to show understanding and respect for our privacy. Please do not ask any further questions or requests for statements," the doorman said.
