Albania is very close to a historic qualification for the World Cup Play-Offs, with Sylvinho's red and black team playing their last two qualifying matches in November, against Andorra and England. The Shpresa representative team will also take to the field, with friendly matches against Moldova and Ukraine on the program.
The coach of the Shpresa team, Alban Bushi, expressed optimism in an interview for Sport News on News 24, in conversation with journalist Trevisa Tufa.
Bushi, recently the Albanian Football Federation (AFH) officially announced two friendly matches, against Moldova and Ukraine. How useful are these two matches for the Shpresa team and how useful are they for Alban Bushi?
We are a young team, we are developing and improving. We have improved in the friendly matches we played. Moldova and Ukraine are strong teams. Everyone is available, except for those who are missing due to injury, like Muça and Osmani.
In recent years, you have supplied the A National Team with talent, with players who are now starters, it seems like there is a gap at the moment, is it a matter of generations... or is it simply a matter of time?
It's definitely a generational issue. The A team definitely has young players, like Medon Berisha or Pajaziti. We also have very good players born in 2005, there are 3-4 players who have potential for the A team.
Recently there has been a lot of talk about a Bayern Munich talent, Ylli Gashi, and Kosovo is also targeting him, is there anything concrete? Could he be part of Albania?
I've been following him and contacting his people. Albania could be an option for him. He's a good player, he could be part of us.
Arda Kurtulan was another very promising talent, a personal discovery of yours, is it true that he rejected the invitation of the National Team A, have you communicated with him about this decision?
I spoke to him, he did well in the Turkish Super League. If he comes to play for Albania, he will be considered a foreigner in the team he is in. This season he may not be ready to play for us. Goztepe, the team he plays for, has considered him Turkish. The moment he plays for us, he will be considered a foreigner. In the coming years, if coach A needs him, I think he can play for us.
How is the situation of the Shpresa Bushi team, when will you give Sylvinho and Albania another gift, a talent that you are confident can rise to high levels, a discovery?
Albanian teams have a lot of development. Maybe now there is no one ready for the A team, but in a few years there will be. The entire technical directorate is focused on the A team.
On November 13, the day you play against Moldova, the National Team plays against Andorra on the road, what match is Bushi expecting, is there anything you are afraid of?
Nuk ka ekipe të dobëta. Sot mund të rrafësh vetëm ekipin e San Marinos. Me ekipet e tjera, ne kemi luajtur disa herë me Andorrën dhe kemi fituar me vështirësi. Do jetë ndeshje e vështirë, nuk është ndeshje e lehtë.
Në fakt, kemi eksperienca të hidhura me ekipet e vogla, nëse mund ta quajmë të tillë, nuk do na duhej ndihma e Anglisë nëse nuk do linim dy pikë në Letoni…
Ne ta fitojmë ndeshjen tonë. Nëse ne marrim pikë me Anglinë, mund të shkojmë një vazo me lart. Të fokusohemi te kjo ndeshje. Të shpresojmë e te Anglia. Anglia mund të fitojë ndaj Serbisë.
Të shqetëson fakti që disa legjionarë shumë të rendësishëm si Broja, Bajrami, apo dhe Asallani vijnë me pak ose aspak minuta në këmbë?
Unë do thoja të kundërtën. Tani 70 përqind e ekipit është me minuta, kemi lojtarë të mirë që po luajnë. Ka nga ata që s’kanë qënë të grumbulluar, por që kanë qënë në mendjen e Sylvinhos, në rast të ndonjë dëmtimi.
Bushi, në intervistën e fundit që kishim bashke, llogarite 4 pikë ndaj Serbisë, por me një fitore në Tiranë, ishte më bukur kështu, me një fitore në Serbi?
Më kujtohet intervista. Nuk e kisha frikë Serbinë, rëndësi ka që janë poshtë nesh. Nuk i dihet, edhe mund ta mundim këtu. Jemi krenar me Shqipërinë në këto ndeshje të fundit.
Më trego pak, si e përjetove atë fitore, atë gol të Rey Manajt?
Isha në shtëpi. U gëzova shumë. Erdhi si papritur. Mendoj që ishte huqi i Ajetit, i doli Manajt për mirë.
Njëmbëdhjet vite më parë, ku dhe ti ishe pjesë e delegacionit fituam nga ajeri mes huliganizmit, këtë herë futuam nga toka, në fushë si burrat, kë do veçoje?
Edhe atëherë ishte ndeshja 0-0 dhe po luanim mirë. Patëm raste me Mavraj dhe Cana. Kjo ishte ndeshje më e bukur. Stadiumi ishte i qetë, ky ishte plusi jonë.
I tronditëm në themel me atë humbje që i shkaktuam, beson se Serbia është jashtë loje tashmë, i duhet të fitojnë në “Ëembley”, e sheh të mundur?
Nuk e mendoj që Serbia fiton, duke parë përformancën që kanë treguar ekipet.. Në krahun tjetër, duke parë emrat Angli,Serbi, gjithçka mund të ndodhë. Serbia është në lojë matematikisht. Serbia ka ende shpresa, beson te gabimi jonë.
A është i mbyllur diskutimi për vendin e dytë Bushi, kujt i druhesh më shumë, një neglizhence të mundshme të Anglisë apo Andorrës?
Anglia nuk neglizhon, të luash në Ëembley me gjithë ata tifozë, të kesh një trajner gjerman që kërkon të fitosh gjithmonë.
Andorrën mund ta mundësh 5-0 por edhe mund të të vendosë në vështirësi.
E mbyllim me Anglinë në “Air Albania” me 16 nëntor, mqs jemi tek viti i tabuve, mund të bëjmë ndonjë mrekulli këtu, të marrim ndonjë pikë historike…
Anglia na mundi atje 2-0. Po shikoja Qarabag-Chelsea, përfundoi në barazim. Unë nuk kam frikë asnjë lloj ekipi, gjithçka varet nga ti.
Çfarë do të thotë për Shqipërinë pjesëmarrja në fazën play-off të një Botërori?
It's something historic. Whatever happens, you're ready for the next step. Beautiful things can happen, too, depending on what God has written.
FIFA2026, is it a dream or a reality that we can play Bushi?
It's a dream that has a purpose in itself. The reality is hard to say, we've never been there and we're getting closer. We're a good team, we deserve the World Cup. I would really like us to go to the World Cup.
Albania or Kosovo, which one goes first to a World Cup, or both to the USA?
Both in the USA, it would be very nice. Very soon Kosovo will also be in the Europeans.
I would definitely choose Albania, but I would also like to see Kosovo there.
Finally, Bushi, but not out of importance, I want to close with two short questions from the Super League, from what the basis of the National Team should be, how does the level of this season look to you, do you see the most complete team to compete for the title?
I see that there is organization. They have finally become visionary, I like it. They are teams that could be potential that could go to the Conference League.
What stands out is the major crisis that has gripped the two teams from the capital, Tirana and Partizan. I believe it is also a problem for the representative teams. Why is this situation?
It's a problem, if you look at Tirana's U19, it's in the First Category. They haven't been working lately, it's simply a management issue. They don't have weak names. Even their rivals don't have them by a big margin.
