Barcelona accused of bribing referees, Real Madrid demands another 6 months of

Real Madrid has asked the Spanish Court to extend the investigation into the Negreira case for another 6 months.

In 2023, Barcelona was accused of bribery, referring to several payments made to the former vice-president of the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA), José María Enríquez Negreira, who at the time was in the service of the Federation.

The court considered those payments to be bribes. It amounted to around 8 million euros from 2001 to 2018.

The Madrid club has asked the court to extend the investigation from September 1, 2025, to March 2026, in order to gain more time to uncover the truth.

Barcelona has stated that there is no evidence linking the club to these allegations.
