Briken Calja shines at the Balkan Weightlifting Championship taking place in Durrës. The red-and-black weightlifter triumphed in his category in the weight up to 79 kg, winning gold medals in all styles and, moreover, setting 3 Balkan records.
In the snatch style, Calja won the gold medal with a weight of 150 kg with a new Balkan record. He tried to break the European record by trying to lift 156 kg, but failed in both of these attempts and closed the competition in this style with 150 kg. Regarding the clean and jerk style, Briken Calja closed the competition by lifting 185 kg, in this case too he has a gold medal but also a Balkan record for the Albanian weightlifter.
In the snatch, Briken Calja's result is 335 kg, thus winning the third gold medal in this Balkan Championship and this was also the third Balkan record. In the category up to 79 kg, Erkand Qerimaj also competed, but for the latter things did not go well in this competition. Qerimaj could not complete any of his tests with 151 kg and as a result did not participate in the breakaway style for a ranking in the snatch.
