Armando Broja could have returned to Chelsea in the final days of the winter transfer window, ending his loan spell at Everton. But in the end, his current club decided to keep the Albanian striker and he continued his rehabilitation there to recover from the injury he suffered a few weeks ago.
Everton's director of football, Kevin Thelwell, has explained why this decision was made, arguing that Broja and Yusef Cermiti would return to the field of play sooner than expected. Everton had been looking for strikers during the January transfer window but, seeing that there were no quality players in circulation, had decided to keep Broja as it would be available to Moya quickly.
" We know we have a big deficit in terms of goals. We have had three injuries to three very good strikers. We looked during the transfer window to see if we could recruit a striker but those players are very expensive.
"With Broja coming back sooner than expected, with Cermit coming back sooner than expected, we collectively made a decision to continue with who we had. Beto did brilliantly last week scoring goals, let's see if he can score another one and during this period we get these two strikers back in our ranks and they can prove that they are capable of helping us win some games ," said the Everton manager.
According to English media, it is now expected that Broja will be ready to return to the field in the first week of March, making himself available to coach David Moyes.
