Cristiano Ronaldo is widely regarded by many as the best footballer in history, while recently he managed to score the 900th goal in his career.
The 39-year-old reached this figure in Portugal's 2-1 victory over Croatia on Thursday in the League of Nations.
However, he has expressed his desire to extend this figure even further, as his goal is to score 1000 goals, before saying goodbye to football.
In an interview in 2022, Piers Morgan said that Ronaldo told him in a private conversation that Leo Messi is the best player he has ever seen.
" I had a very interesting conversation with Christiano, we were having dinner after I had interviewed him three years ago, it was a really good conversation and I like him as a person", said Morgan.
He is a person who respects Leo Messi immensely, as I asked him: "Who is the best player you have ever seen ".
He said to me, " Mesi, but you are asking me the wrong question, you are not asking me who is the best football player" - because he has never seen himself playing . So his response made me laugh, Morgan concluded.
The Portuguese already holds the record as the player with the most appearances and goals in the history of the national team, having scored 131 goals in 213 games.
