Pep Guardiola is set to end his Manchester City career after a decade in charge of the English club. The Spanish coach will lead the team for the final two games of the season before leaving a year before the end of his contract.
According to foreign media reports, Guardiola's decision seems to be closely related to his family situation, specifically his divorce from his wife, Cristina Serra. The recent contract renewal with City is said to have influenced Serra's final departure to Spain, also initiating divorce proceedings.
Sources close to the coach suggest that Guardiola has been trying in recent months to mend the relationship and reunite the family. However, he is believed to consider this impossible if he continues to live and work in England.
This has fuelled speculation that his departure from Manchester City was motivated not only by professional but also personal reasons. The reports are further reinforced by the news that Guardiola is investing around 15 million euros in the purchase of a villa near his apartment in Barcelona, where his wife currently lives.
This is clearly seen as an attempt by Guardiola to reunite the family, with the coach dedicating more time to her and it is believed that he will now focus solely on international football, which gives him more opportunities to be close to her.
