Tomorrow at 18:00, the first quarter-final of the European Championship will be played, where host Germany will face Spain. Spain have won all four of their matches so far and are the team to beat from Germany.
They now face a tough match with hosts Stuttgart, who are desperate to keep their tactics under wraps as they try to extend their run at the Euro 2024 home tournament.
Germany are said to be taking unusual measures to ensure their plans are kept under wraps ahead of Friday's Euro 2024 quarter-final against Spain.
According to Bild, German staff have gone as far as playing loud music on their mobile phones to prevent any spies or bystanders from hearing Julian Nagelsmann's tactics for Friday's game.
The idea behind the strange measure is to prevent conversations between Nagelsmann and his players from being overheard. They even did it with two of Bild's reporters on Wednesday morning, following them every step of the way as they played the title song from the German children's series "Benjamin Blumchen" and "Cheri Cheri Lady" by the pop duo 1980s Modern Talking.
The German team is based at their Adidas site in Herzogenaurach, Bavaria, which already has two high tire covered fences. Security also guards the entire facility, with police on horseback making sure players are safe.
But they are now going even further to reduce the risk of spies overhearing Nagelsmann's plans as the tour draws to a close.
Nagelsmann previously had trouble with spies at his former club Bayern Munich in 2022, and is keen to make sure that doesn't happen again. Germany have also been wary of spies in the recent past and have been training behind high walls at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
However, they failed to capitalize on this as they were eliminated in the group stage after losing to Japan in their last match. They have fared much better this time around in front of their passionate home fans, topping their group after beating Scotland and Hungary before drawing with Switzerland.
