Former Real Madrid defender Rafael Alkorta has warned Vinicius Junior about contract renewal negotiations with Florentino Perez.
Speaking to Cadena SER, Alkorta said Vinicius is playing a dangerous game and reminded him of Sergio Ramos, who had his contract offer withdrawn in 2023 despite being a club legend.
He said:
" Trying to squeeze Florentino Perez can backfire. We know what happened with Ramos ."
Alkorta added that the negotiations with Perez are 'toxic', as the Los Blancos president is not afraid to make bold decisions. He claims that the Brazilian would have had a better position in the negotiations if he had had a good season, adding:
" These quarrels are poisonous. Florentino is lovable, but he doesn't hesitate to make difficult decisions. If he has a good season, he will have the strength to negotiate ."
Vinicius Junior has a contract until 2027 and has been in talks over a new deal for the past few months. However, no agreement has yet been reached, with Real Madrid and the player's entourage having major disagreements over salary demands.
