Albanian defender Adrian Bajrami, who left the national team for Switzerland, has given a long interview to the Swiss media outlet " 20min.ch ".
" I really didn't have time to get nervous ," says Bajrami, recalling his first minutes with the Helvetic national team.
Last summer, Bajrami left Lisbon to join Lucerne. In addition to the sporting aspect, important reasons for this step were also family ones: " After training I go home and I'm with my parents, with my brothers and sisters. I haven't had this pleasure in 7 years ."
" My parents built everything from scratch here. I'm incredibly proud of them, even more proud of my parents than I am of myself ."
When he received his first salary, he even offered his parents the money he had available. " They are very stubborn about these things, they would never accept money from me ," the debutant of the Helvetic national team says with a laugh.
After the match with Sweden, Switzerland will travel to Pristina for the final match of the qualifying campaign.
" Of course there are connections. It's a special match, one that gives you pleasure to play ."
Before choosing Switzerland, he played three friendlies with the Albanian national team.
" I feel both Swiss and Albanian. I grew up in the Albanian way, with traditions, language and culture. At the same time, I was born and raised in Switzerland, this is my country. I am proud to represent this country ," he said, among other things.
