
FIFA published a report this Thursday that concludes that more than 78 thousand player transfers (78,742) registered in 2024 constitute a record number, with clubs spending a total of 8.59 billion euros.
According to the Global Transfer Report 2024, almost 40 percent of the value mentioned refers to the 2.5% of the most expensive transfers in men's football, always equivalent to more than 20 million euros.
English clubs contributed the most to this record, both in terms of signings (1.88 billion) and departures (1.34 billion). In terms of quantity, Brazilian clubs appear at the top of the list, with 1,102 players entering the country and 1,113 leaving.
The rise of women's football
Also in women's football, the figures marked a significant increase, with total spending of more than 15 million euros - more than double compared to the previous year, 2023.
Amateur football in the spotlight
According to FIFA, there were 53,678 amateur players who played for a new club in 2024, with Germany leading the way.
