The referee who will referee the Copa del Rey final, which will be played on Saturday, April 26th between Barcelona and Real Madrid, has been determined.
Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea has been appointed as the main referee, with Pablo Gonzalez Fuertes at VAR.
Although Soto Grado seemed like the main favorite to host the final, he missed out on the chance in the final weeks and so De Burgos Bengoetxea was assigned to the role.
This will be the first Copa del Rey final for Burgos Bengoetxea, although he has refereed El Clasico in the past.
He had previously refereed two Spanish Super Cup finals between Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The first was in 2018, when the competition was still played over two legs. In that match, Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 3-1.
The second was in 2023, in the current format, where Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 3-1.
Under his watch, Barcelona have won 25 matches, drawn one and lost five. Real Madrid, on the other hand, have won 16 matches, drawn four and lost five.
