Fear of a possible explosion, a 500 kg bomb is found near the stadium of the Bundesliga team

A Second World War bomb has been found at the stadium of Bundesliga club Mainz. It is about a 500-kilogram explosive device of the US military that was discovered on Wednesday during construction work in the extension of the university located near the stadium.

The bomb was found in the MEWA Arena, Mainz's stadium, which is located in the Mainz district and has a capacity of 33,034 spectators.

Due to the fear of a possible explosion and in order not to harm anyone, the evacuation of about 4,600 residents living in the area is planned, who will have to leave their homes until the firefighters detonate the device.

Despite the fact that the bomb has been found, the match is not in danger of being postponed and will be played normally as planned.

This is not the first bomb found near the stadium in Mainz. Although not of this magnitude, a small bomb was found last Monday, April 15, which was then safely disposed of by a small controlled explosion.
