The AFL has made the decision to change the format of the Superior Category for the 2023-2024 season. They have selected the "Final 4" stage.

The Executive Committee of the Albanian Football Federation has approved the decision to change the format of the "Abissnet Superiore" championship, which will come into force starting from this 2023-2024 season.
The decision to change the format was preceded by several rounds of discussions and consultations between the representatives of the AFL, the managers and presidents of the clubs of the elite championship during the past days, where several different variants were proposed and in the end it was agreed on the format that was passed for consideration by the Executive Committee of the ALF.
The change of the championship scheme aims to bring more spectators closer to the stadium steps, to promote the Albanian championship more or even to give the spectators matches with a more competitive level at the end of the championship. Also, it is intended that this change will bring even more income for the Albanian clubs at the end of the season.
According to the new scheme, the "Abissnet Superiore 2023-2024" championship will have four stages and at the end of the 36th week, the teams ranked in the first 4 places will face each other in a play-off stage. This stage will be called "Final 4" and the winning team will be announced as the team that collects the most points in these three games. All four teams start the "Final 4" with 0 points, while the matches will be played at the "Air Albania" stadium in Tirana according to the following schedule:

Ranking Rules – If two or more teams have equal points at the end of the "Final 4", then their ranking will be based on the final ranking of the 36 weeks of the "Abyssnet Superiore" championship. The winning team of the "Final 4" play-off will be declared the champion of the "Abyssnet Superiore" and will participate in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, while the other 2 best ranked teams will participate in the UEFA Conference League.
In cases where the winning team of the Albanian Cup is ranked in the first 3 places of the "Final 4" play-off, the right to participate in the UEFA Conference League will belong to the 4th place ranked in the play-off -off "Final 4".
As for the bottom of the ranking, there are no changes, as the 9th and 10th place automatically fall into the First Category, while the 8th place team will play a final with the winner of the play-off of the 1st Category. First.
The Executive Committee has approved the change in the format of Abissnet Superiore through a decision that takes effect immediately and will be implemented from this season that is expected to start.
