Manchester City players have decided to reimburse the expenses of all fans who traveled to and attended the Champions League match in Norway against Bodo/GLimt, which ended with the home team's historic 3-1 success.
Even Erling Haaland himself called the performance "embarrassing" after the defeat to the small Norwegian team, in what was billed as one of the most sensational results of the tournament. Most of the City fans flew to Oslo before travelling to Bodo, braving sub-zero temperatures as Pep Guardiola's team embarrassed themselves in front of their home crowd.
The City team has decided to refund fans their money for tickets for the match, for a total of around £9,357, as confirmed by issuing a joint statement from captains Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, Rodri and Haaland.
" Our fans are everything to us. We know the sacrifice our fans make when they travel the world to support us at home and away and we will never take that for granted. They are the best fans in the world. We also recognise that there was a lot of travel for the fans who supported us in the freezing cold on a difficult evening for us on the pitch.
"Covering the cost of these tickets for the fans who travelled to Bodo is the least we can do. We are ready to fight on Saturday for our game against Wolverhampton and then again next Wednesday when we face Galatasaray in front of our amazing fans at the Etihad ," was the City players' reaction to the decision to cover the ticket costs of the 374 travelling fans who were present at the stadium.
