The Netherlands and Japan played out an exciting encounter in Dallas, which ended in a 2-2 draw in the opening match of Group F.
The match started at a high pace with the Dutch team creating the first dangerous chances with Malen. However, Japanese goalkeeper Suzuki was attentive, keeping his goal intact in the first minutes.
After a goalless first half, the Netherlands took the lead in the 51st minute. Captain Virgil Van Dijk took advantage of a cross in the area and with a precise header sent the ball into the net for 1-0.
Japan's response was immediate. Just six minutes later, Nakamura unleashed a powerful shot from inside the box, tying the score.
The Dutch regained the advantage in the 64th minute, when Summerville beautifully finished a move in the area and beat Suzuki for a 2-1 score.
However, Japan did not give up and in the 89th minute found the equalizer again. After a corner kick, Kamada broke away into the area and headed the ball into the net, sealing the final score at 2-2.
With this draw, both teams start their adventure in Group F with one point each. Meanwhile, the next match in the group will be played between Sweden and Tunisia.
