The Court of Appeal of Florence has today confirmed the decision of the first instance, sentencing Professor Giorgio Galanti to one year of imprisonment for the charge of causing the death of the former captain of Fiorenina, Davide Astori.
Galanti, the former head of sports medicine at the "Careggi" hospital and previously as the club's sports consultant, has been found guilty of the tragic event of March 4, 2018.
At that time, the player was found dead in his hotel room in Udine, where he was huddled together with the team before the Serie A match. According to the accusation, the death was caused by a pathology that should have come out of the heart tests that he underwent footballers.
In this case, doctor Galanti had issued two certificates that Astor could continue his sports activities normally after the tests carried out by him.
