FIFA President Gianni Infantino met with US President Donald Trump a few hours ago. The topics of discussion could not be other than two major events that will be held in the coming months across the ocean.
As is known, this summer FIFA has decided to hold the first edition of the Club World Cup in the USA. This event guarantees the winner a sum of around 150 million euros. During the meeting, Infantino also presented the prestigious trophy to the president.
Another topic of discussion at this meeting is the World Cup, which will be held in Mexico, the US and Canada. To ensure the smooth running of this competition, which will be played in the summer of 2026, Donald Trump signed a decree creating a Task Force to oversee the smooth running of this competition.
In a conversation with Infantino, Trump inquired about the winning team, asking FIFA's number one if the US had any hope of triumphing in the final.
" It's going to be a great event, I think! Everyone knows Gianni Infantino. He's kind of the king of football, I think in a way! And he helped us organize this event! And we're going to do a fantastic job, making the fans feel at home! The first time it's been organized in this part of the world and it's an honor! The tensions with Canada and Mexico? They're a good thing, it's going to make this more exciting ," Trump said.
" The US can win it thanks to the help of the public. They have a chance ," replied Infantino, who listed Argentina, Brazil, England and Germany among the favorites. At this point, the French media have "rebelled" because according to them, the absence of the two-time world champions among the contenders was not accidental, considering Emmanuel Macron's recent meeting with Donald Trump.
