The scandal of the exclusion of 3 football players from the Kosovo National Team has caused a lot of commotion in Kosovo. In defense of Edon Zhegrova, Arjanet Murič and Florent Muslijas, former footballers have also come forward, as is the case of Blendi Memaj.
But the latter caused a stir with a strong statement, where he compared the footballer of the Albanian national team, Jasir Asani, and that of Kosovo, Edon Zhegrova. He stated that Asan is a much lower level than Zhegrova, while this statement was taken as an attempt to create division between the two countries.
Invited to "Albania LIVE", he said that his statement was taken out of context. He did not want to create division, but took Asan as an example to compare with Zhegrova, because Kosovo sees the red and black national team as a point of orientation.
" The comparison I made was in their individuality, for the position they play. Based on the success of your National Team, which we take as an example. We follow the structure started by you, for the selection of the coach and the creation of a group and team that is present in international competitions.
Jasir Asani is not at the level of Zhegrovo, not an ideal comparison, but a hasty one. From a professional point of view, I think that Zhegrova is at a higher level. I can't even tie my shoes. I think it's at a higher level. It has nothing to do with national division, I am for national unity. It was only about the importance that Zhegrova has for our national team, after the exclusion from the group. Everything was taken out of context ," he said.
