The president of the Apolonia club, Koço Kokëdhima, has been placed under investigation for yesterday's incident when he entered the field during a women's football match and physically clashed with the referee.
Invited to a live broadcast on "Albania Live", Kokëdhima explained what prompted him to take that action, while also having a fierce "clash" with former referee Lorenc Jemini, with the latter opposing the action of the president of the Fier club, with the debate escalating into insults.
Kokëdhima: I protested there. I even went down to the field twice. I spoke to the referee and the second time, I had to go down again, because the delegate told me that the three officials wanted to leave the field. I went down, I said a few words to that gentleman and they left. That's what it looks like. But what angers me is that the referee tried to kill that match with full awareness. This is unacceptable in my culture. He asked to decide the result against our girls. Apolonia has played Gramshi three times this year and Gramshi has only won one match. What we saw in Fier was an unacceptable situation. Our codes do not allow our players to protest.
Sidorela Gjoni: Did the coach threaten the referee?
Kokëdhima: What can the coach threaten with? Our coach is a great guy. I also have respect for Gramsh's coach. With what? By crying and exploding in revolt against a referee in a match that has no tension? He kills the match in the 65th minute, giving two red cards.
Jemini: I have to look at the cases. But from the information I have, they told me that they were fair cards. We take it for granted that they were not. Again, the behavior that the president has shown, I find it extraordinary. For the president, the coach and the staff to come in and put pressure on the coach and insult him, is intolerable. If the field is 'occupied' by other people who put pressure on the referee, the match ends there. There is no more football.
Kokëdhima: Jemini is right to express his opinions, because these opinions are not unknown to me. He should consider that referees can make mistakes, because they are human and everyone makes mistakes, but if a referee conspires and seeks to decide the outcome of the match, who should protest? Who raises their voice against abusers?
Jemini: By entering the field and making self-judgment?
Kokëdhima: What kind of self-judgment are you talking about? I am an official of Apolonia and I can commit any violation and take action, what's the problem?
Jemini: You get a red card, a disciplinary measure, only for stepping on the green field, not for colliding with the referee.
Kokëdhima: Are you going to take away my right to revolt?
Jemini: Injustices are not decided by you, but by the Disciplinary Committee.
Kokëdhima: The Disciplinary Committee does not judge the judges. I have been in that type of stand that is there...
Jemini: There is a special commission for referees in the Albanian Football Association, which deals with their every action. And you will be included in the Commission.
Kokëdhima: You hide behind your finger and I don't have it personal with you, but with everyone who is of the same race as you.
Jemini: Don't ask me this. We're talking about the incident. Not about things I have no information about at all.
Kokëdhima: You have. Verify it publicly. You didn't see anything. You didn't watch the match, but you have the judgment, because you don't need to see the facts yourself. Don't take it for granted at all.
Jemini: You have no right to enter the field. It's that simple.
Kokëdhima : I have my rights as an investor.
Jemini: No way.
Kokëdhima : Are you going to stop me from living?
Jemini: I'm stopping you from entering the field. You can't enter with a red light.
Kokëdhima: It doesn't stop me from revolting. It's my freedom. I take responsibility for the consequences.
Jemini : If you accept the consequences, then keep them.
Kokëdhima : I want to be sure that you are an impartial person there.
Sidorela Gjoni: Were you a little overwhelmed by emotions?
Kokëdhima: I am always emotional. I live business like love. This is not something to criticize. This is my life. I cannot accept rape from anyone.
Afterwards, Kokëdhima continued the debate with Jemini, addressing him as follows:
Kokëdhima: Before I became president, you didn't dare come because they would put a hat on your head. I have turned Apolonia into a team that respects every team and every referee.
Jemini: From the moment Kokëdhima says he is responsible for his actions, that's where it ends. I say he doesn't deserve it just because of his name. Imagine what could happen on the toughest fields. If a match is stopped for 25 minutes...
Kokëdhima: Do you know why it was interrupted?
Jemini: Because there was no police force.
Kokëdhima: That's not true. There were police forces. The referee said he was scared and asked for additional forces. Why weren't the police enough for him?
Jemini: Since you've been threatening him for so long, it's only natural that he would ask for additional forces.
Kokëdhima: You are shameless. You are one race with them. You are paid for these attitudes. When I say that these are criminal structures.
Jemini: You have no ethics here, let alone on the field.
Kokëdhima: You were raped in the field. They beat you up and you're telling me.
