The mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, confirmed that a city council meeting is expected to be held tomorrow to approve the sale of "San Siro", the city's iconic stadium, after reaching an agreement with the Milan and Inter clubs.
" The stadium must be ready by 2031, because UEFA has informed us that it will not consider Milan for the 2032 European Championship if San Siro remains in its current state ," Sala added.
Although the terms of the sale are not yet public, this is a significant turning point for the clubs and fans. After a long and arduous process, Milan and Inter will have the opportunity to start planning for the modernization of their stadium, turning it into one of the best stadiums in Europe.
After evaluating other options, including Rozzano for Inter and San Donato for Milan, the home of the Nerazzurri and Rossoneri will remain in its traditional location, in the heart of Milan.
The mayor concluded with optimism: " Now the only thing left is to wait with confidence for tomorrow and cross our fingers that everything goes well. The long-awaited agreement has arrived. Now let's start working to give Milan the stadium it deserves ."
