
The first three second leg matches of the Europa League have been completed, determining the first two quarter-finalists: Freiburg and Celta Vigo. Meanwhile, the match between Nottingham Forest and Midtjylland remains open and will be decided in extra time.
Freiburg secured qualification with a comprehensive 5-1 victory over Genk, overturning a 1-0 first-leg defeat in Belgium.
The German team took the lead in the 19th minute through Vincenzo Grifo, who headed in a free kick. Just six minutes later, Igor Matanović doubled the lead. Genk responded in the 39th minute with a goal from Mate Smets, after an assist from Konstantinos Karetsas, ending the first half 2-1.
In the second half, Freiburg scored two quick goals through Grifo (53') and Suzuki (57'), practically sealing qualification. The fifth goal was scored by Maksimilian Egeshtein in the 79th minute.
At the "Parc Olympique", Celta Vigo triumphed 0-2 over Lyon, advancing to the quarterfinals after a 1-1 draw in the first leg.
The situation for the home team became more complicated in the 20th minute, when Musa Niakhate was sent off for a rough tackle. The first half ended goalless, while the Spanish team opened the scoring in the 61st minute through Javier Rueda. The victory was sealed in extra time by Ferran Jutgla.
In the next match, Nottingham Forest won 1-2 away against Midtjyland. However, as the Danes had won 0-1 in England in the first leg, the aggregate score remained level, sending the match into extra time.
