Vasil Pilo was one of the seven victims of the tragic accident in which the van carrying fans of the Greek club PAOK was involved. After the event that deeply shocked public opinion, one of his relatives, Thoma Ninka, spoke to the media.
Ninka indicated that she was a first cousin to Pilos' father, who had passed away years earlier, while adding that Vasili was born in Thessaloniki and had been living with his mother and sister for almost a decade since his father's death.
According to Thoma Ninka, since the death of Vasili's father, his cousin, the relations between the families were no longer so close, and contact was very rare.
" I am the first cousin of Vasili's father. We heard the news on TV, they gave the news. The boy was born in Greece. Young boys follow the matches, I don't know what team it was, I know a little, as they were leaving in the van they collided with a truck and this is the incident. He lived in Greece, his father had died. He lived with his sister and mother ," he said.
He also touched on Vasili's and his family's past, saying: " We haven't had much contact since his father died and his mother remarried someone else and we don't know what was going on there, they never came here to Albania. Despite the fact that we haven't had any contact, because they left, because we couldn't come, because we don't even have the cards, the passports to get them. With the death of the cousin, many things are closed, we don't know when his mother got married. It's been almost 10 years since his father died, when Vasili was about 13-14 years old ."
In conclusion, Thomai stated that they were originally from Korça and that what had happened to Vasili was a great misfortune: " They were immigrants to Greece, their mother is also from Korça, all from Korça and as Albanians flee. Both the son and the daughter were born there. Bad luck, great misfortune ."
We recall that in the van that collided with the truck in Romania while traveling to France, there were ten PAOK fans, seven of whom died, six of them on the spot and one on the way to the hospital. The three injured, among them another Albanian, Genci Sadiku, are receiving treatment in the Timisoara hospital, out of danger for their lives.
