Greek tycoon Evangelos Marinakis, who owns English club Nottingham Forest, has been accused of trying to fix a match in the Greek football championship. The Greek owner has opened the defamation case against Irini Karipidis, who holds the position of president of the Greek club of Thessaloniki, Aris. The Greek claims that the president of the rival team PAOK owns a page that contains accusations against the boss of Olympiakos and slanders him on social networks. The false accusations, according to Marinakis, are related to involvement in match-fixing, drug smuggling and illegal transportation of Russian oil that is against European Union sanctions.
The lawyer agreed by the tycoon to deal with this case stated that in the documents of the special court the claim was made to create bad publicity to the detriment of the image of the Greek president. The application of Evangelos' opponents is an open campaign "against Marinakis" and this is already transparent.
