Hakan Shukur, the Turkish football legend, has publicly praised the Kosovo national team.
After the play-off draw, he described as an extraordinary achievement the fact that Kosovo secured its deserved place, considering the extremely difficult group with Switzerland, Slovenia and Sweden. According to him, this success should not be underestimated, especially considering that Kosovo comes from a strong sporting tradition of the former Yugoslavia.
" In the qualifiers, Kosovo had the potential to finish first in the group. I can see their discipline, clear game plan and stability shown in every match. Even despite the 3-0 defeat to Romania, Kosovo is much stronger than perceived and should not be considered the weakest link ."
He singled out some of the team's key players, such as Milot Rashica and Vedat Muriqi, describing them as high-quality players who are dangerous for any opponent. Shukur said that Kosovo plays attacking and physical football, and warned Slovakia that if it tries to play on the offensive, it could fall into the trap of the "Dardans". According to him, Turkey will also have a very difficult time against the winner of this duel.
