Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho has signed a contract to take charge of Real Madrid next season and is expected to take office once Florentino Pérez is confirmed as the winner of the club's presidential election on June 7. The news was reported by journalist David Ornshtein of " The Athletic ".
According to reports, the appointment of the "Special One" was to have been made public earlier, but the process was postponed due to the development of the presidential race at the club.
Mourinho, 63, signed a contract last week and is expected to return to the Spanish capital with a deal that will keep him in charge of the Merengues until June 2029.
Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has selected Mourinho as the team's next coach. Pérez, 79, announced the presidential election on May 12, with voting to take place on June 7. The official announcement of the coach's appointment is expected after the electoral process is completed.
This will be Mourinho's second stint in charge of Real Madrid. During his first spell in charge of the Madrid team, he won a La Liga title and a Copa del Rey.
