The coach of the Albanian National Team, Silvinjo, has conducted a very interesting interview for the Portuguese media "ZeroZero", telling about everything, his journey with the red and black team, life in Tirana, working with the staff and players, the conditions offered by the AFL and his opinion for the two Albanian footballers who play in Portugal, Adrian Bajram and Enea Mihajn.
The technician of the Red and Black National Team highlighted the development of the AFL and the great research work that is done to find new talents, while he also commented on Albania's chances in the European Championship.
Furthermore, he said that Albania should learn to play in the European Championship, while adding that in the future the qualification for the World Cup will also be aimed.
- One year after he became official in Albania, Silvinjo visits "zerozero" again. In the midst of this coincidence, what is the balance of your work as coach of Albania?
- It is a pleasure to be here and I am surprised by this coincidence. The year with Albania was very intense, fabulous and it's fantastic to be here talking to you and celebrating it.
- How did the opportunity to lead the Albanian National Team arise?
- The invitation came from a person very close to the President of the Federation. I lived in Porto and was invited to a dinner in Milan. The president of the AFL, Armand Duka was in Italy for business matters and we had the opportunity to talk a little about different topics. There was a good chemistry, a harmony between the goals of the Federation and what we thought we were going to deliver. Not long after, the invitation became official and we accepted. We asked the President to live in Tirana and for him this was a big surprise. None of my ancestors had done this. My helpers and I wanted to stay there.
– Did the experience in the Brazilian National Team help you?
- Doriva himself, who is in my technical team, told me this: "You spent three years with Tito in the National Team, you went to the World Cup in 2018, your experience is already very good." I knew very well what we had to do to do the job well. The club is one thing, the national team is another.
- What reality did you find in Tirana?
– A highly evolved Federation, a completely new building, more than 100 employees, four floors exclusive to our work. We go to work every day at nine in the morning and leave at five in the afternoon. We arrived in January, the first game was in March against Poland and we had a brand new training center ready to go. We have made many visits to football players, the President has always been helpful. There was some fear on our part, because this training complex is right in the center of Tirana, but the truth is that from the fans, from the people, there is only respect. I found a very structured Federation.
– Grupi i futbollistëve është i një cilësie të mirë?
– E kuptuam shpejt që kishim një grup të mirë futbollistësh, pasi pothuajse të gjithë luajnë në kampionate shumë të rëndësishme. Në Serinë A, në Bundesligë, në Premier Ligë, në La Liga, në Portugali, të gjithë këto kampionate kanë lojtarë shqiptarë.
– Si punoni për të rekrutuar lojtarët që janë me origjinë shqiptare, por që kanë lindur jashtë apo që janë larguar nga vendi? Kishte nevojë për t’i bindur ata të përfaqësonin Shqipërinë?
– Ishte një punë shumë e ndryshme nga çdo gjë që kisha bërë më parë. Historia e Shqipërisë është shumë e pasur. Janë tre milionë shqiptarë që jetojnë aty dhe 15 milionë të tjerë jetojnë në territore të tjera. Kemi futbollistë me kombësi italiane, zvicerane apo gjermane që janë me origjinë shqiptare. Federata po e kryen shumë mirë punën e evidentimit të talenteve dhe nuk është punë dytësore. Kemi pasur tetë ndeshje kualifikuese, disa tashmë janë thirrur dhe të tjerë mund të vijnë në të ardhmen.
– Të jetosh në Portugali, në Europë, a të ka ndihmuar për t’u bërë trajner i Kombëtares shqiptare?
– Unë besoj se po. Kam jetuar me shumë kultura dhe metodologji. Brazil, Spanjë, kam kaluar tre vjet në Premier Ligë, pesë vjet duke punuar në Itali dhe pikërisht në atë vend kam ndjekur kurset e mia të trajnerit. Me fjalë të tjera, ekziston një përzierje e madhe e njohurive. Idetë e mia, të stafit teknik ishte një ndihmë tjetër. Kemi Pablo Zabaletën, Dorivën, që kanë punuar në klubet më të mëdha në Europë.
– Shqipëria ka futbollistë në kampionatet më të mëdha. A ua ka lehtësuar kjo gjë punën, të paktën nga ana e mentalitetit?
– Shumë e saktë. Natën kur u kualifikuam në “EURO 2024”, përmenda dy trajnerë që ishin në Kombëtare para nesh dhe që lanë gjëra shumë pozitive. Njerëzit duhet ta kuptojnë procesin dhe ky proces nuk është gjithmonë i shpejtë. Ata janë mësuar të luajnë kundër klubeve të mëdha, kundërshtarëve të mëdhenj dhe të kenë përgjegjësinë për të fituar. Ne kemi shtuar një metodë, një ide, por kemi përfituar nga trashëgimia e lënë pas.
– Në Portugali janë dy shqiptarë në kategorinë e parë: Enea Mihaj luan për Famalikaon dhe Adrian Bajrami u thirr së fundmi në ekipin e parë të Benfikës.
– Po, erdha t’i takoj personalisht në një udhëtim në Portugali dhe me Adrian Bajramin përvoja ishte në fakt qesharake. Nuk e dija nëse fliste mirë portugalisht. Kur shkëmbenim mesazhe me shkrim ishte gjithmonë në anglisht. Arrita në Lisbonë, shkova ta takoja dhe Bajrami dukej më shumë si një portugez. Ai është një futbollist i ri. Futbolli ka ndryshuar, duhet të flasim dhe më pas të marrim vendime. Nëse gjërat shpjegohen, ata kuptojnë. Bajrami është më i ri, ai është te Benfika B, unë isha kurioz për të. Enea Mihaj ishte pjesë e planeve tona, erdha të shikoja dy ndeshje të Famalikao, folëm në anglisht. Ai është thirrur, është absolutisht profesionist, kujdeset shumë për të gjitha aspektet fizike. Edhe Bajrami, por ai është më i ri. Ai ka aspekte të rralla, shpejtësinë dhe këmbën e majtë.
– What can Albania do in the European Championship?
– We know that the group is very difficult. We must test our strength. In the Albanian Federation, there are two very clear situations for us: the first is the European and we must develop an honest, strong European, with the characteristics of our team that we cannot change, our ideas are non-negotiable. The second part involves trying to get Albania to compete in more European Championships and start thinking about being in the World Cup. Both points are difficult, but we are perfectly aligned with the Federation.
– The fans in Albania, how can they manage this enthusiasm, you are in a group with Italy, Spain and Croatia?
- We have started working on this even before the end of the qualification. It is true, there is an atmosphere of great euphoria. When the game against the Czech Republic at home ended 3-0, I couldn't sleep. 'How are we going to manage all this?' People called us, asked what was happening, said that they had never seen anything like this and that the city of Tirana was setting off fireworks. Everything was very good. We have to set achievable goals, we cannot say that we are in this group and it is mandatory to move on. We want continuity, to be in the European Championship again, but it is important to control this euphoria. The fan has no limits and has the right to dream about the National Team.
