Gianluca Roki will not appear at the Milan Prosecutor's Office for the questioning session scheduled for Thursday, April 30, as part of the investigation into the world of arbitration. The news was confirmed by his defense lawyer in a press release.
The former referee designer in Serie A and B, who has self-suspended, is the main suspect in a sports fraud case. The same investigation also includes VAR supervisor Andrea Gervasoni.
According to the defense, the decision not to appear at this stage was made for procedural reasons.
" Roki wanted to appear, but I was the one who decided to withdraw, since I am not aware of the preliminary investigation file; I think I am not able to effectively defend myself ," his lawyer emphasized.
Gervasoni is expected to testify.
Thursday is also expected to be the day of questioning for Andrea Gervasoni, who, like Roki, has self-suspended himself due to the investigation. He is suspected of involvement in sports fraud in connection with the Salernitana-Modena match.
Unlike Roki, sources close to the case say that Gervasoni is willing to appear at the prosecutor's office and answer investigators' questions.
