Luiza Gega is without question the most famous athlete of all time in Albania, a gold medalist, the pride of Albanian sports. Despite the great name he represents, despite what he has given for Albania, Gega has received very little, he has received much less than he deserves, but recently the European champion has reacted through a status on social networks making appeal to the Ministry of Education and Sports, but more specifically to the Minister Ogerta Manastirliu to receive the rewards that are due to her:
The national and European champion, in a reaction on the Instagram social network, wrote that he did not receive the reward he was entitled to, on the grounds that he did not undergo doping control.
Gega highlights the fact that he has been in this system since 2023, which he supports, as he wants to show young people that great things can be achieved by working hard.
The Albanian record holder pointed out the fact that there is no athlete in the country who performs as many checks as she does. But he does not understand the approach of the Ministry of Education and Sports.
Luiza Gega's Instagram status:
"Today we started the day with doping control. In fact, there are many, many days of the year where you are forced to urinate in the morning. I have been in this system since 2023 and I like the fact because I really want to show to all systems or even to young people that great things can be achieved by working hard.
And with all due respect, there is no athlete in the history of Albania who has carried out as many checks as I do inside and outside the competition. And surprisingly, yesterday I found out that the Ministry of Education and Sports does not give me a reward for an activity where there was no control, where athletes do not know if there is control or not, but our duty is to be ready whenever they ask us to check.
You know what I'm sorry for? That I have been investing all my life and only in the last two years with the changes of (VKM) have I managed to get something, of course with my sweat nothing but nothing forgiven. Even here they always find a way to annoy.
Especially since I am in the most important year, the Olympic year. But unfortunately no one understands the significance of this year. I need the relevant institutions to say "Well done", to give me what I deserve and to try harder for sports. Thank you & I won't leave it at that".
