"Mail Sport" has revealed the location of the "trial of the century" of Manchester City, a process which risks bringing them down from the Premier League after the end of the trial. The English champions' trial on 115 charges of alleged breaches of the Premier League's financial rules began on Monday at a venue in central London.
The independent hearing is expected to last about 10 weeks, and Siti vehemently denies all allegations, with a ruling said not to be expected until spring 2025. Fifty-four of the charges relate to Siti's alleged failure to provide information accurate financial information about the club's income. And Mail Sport can reveal that their trial is being held at the International Dispute Resolution Center in London, just two minutes' walk from St Paul's Cathedral.
The main lawyer for Manchester City in this trial is Lord Patrick Penick of the company "Blackstone Chambers", while he was photographed arriving at the building with senior official Gary Oliver. Self-described as the best dispute resolution center in the world, the venue where the litigation is being held is super expensive. It charges you £13.95 if you want to buy a sandwich there, while soft drinks start at £11.95. Buffet food, hot or cold, costs up to £35. Prices for booking the main room in the building start from £1,125 per day and can go up to £4,845. There are over 70 rooms to choose from.
All of the charges facing Manchester City are serious and if they are found to have breached all or some of these charges, they should expect severe consequences, ranging from fines, points deductions to expulsion from the Premier League. The Premier League has also accused the reigning champions of not co-operating with their investigation. When the Premier League's investigation began, City said the allegations were completely false and that the allegations originally published in German magazine Der Spiegel stemmed from the illegal hacking and out-of-context publication of Manchester City's emails.
If found guilty of the most serious charges, Siti could be punished with a serious points deduction, while also risking relegation. City have won eight league titles, numerous cups and the Champions League since their purchase in 2008 by Abu Dhabi United Group.
