The Norwegian national team has attracted international attention after reports that it transported over 1,000 kilograms of food from Norway to its training base in Greensboro, North Carolina, in the United States, as part of preparations for the World Cup.
According to team sources, this large amount of food is not related to a lack of trust in local food, but to a well-defined high-performance strategy, where every detail of the players' diet is strictly controlled.
This “food package” includes hundreds of kilograms of salmon and white fish, over 100 kilograms of brunost (traditional Norwegian cheese), and thousands of oranges. The team also traveled with a full staff of chefs and a personalized meal plan for each player.
In total, the supplies exceed a ton of food, planned to support the team throughout the tournament. On social media, the action has been interpreted by some as a lack of trust in local food , but team leaders emphasize that it is about maintaining stability and full control of the sports diet.
According to the coaching staff, at World Cup level every detail matters: nutrition, sleep and recovery are managed to the highest standards, just like tactics on the pitch. This approach has become increasingly common in elite football, where national teams create “controlled ecosystems” even abroad.
