The former striker of the national team, Hamdi Salihi, in an exclusive interview for Sport News on News 24, showed his perspective on the journey of Sylvinjo's boys in this competition. We play in a competition where the level of the teams is equal. We are not where we are by accident. Everyone can win or lose with each other. The same is with the Czech Republic, we have fresh memories with this team, that we qualified for the European Championship, with a well-deserved victory just before.
What should we do differently Salihi? How can Hori be stopped? How can we withstand their physical strength, details that make the difference in the first challenge...
They are a good team. Like any other team, we play with Georgia, there are other individuals, we play with Ukraine, there are other individuals. We have the capacity to face them. We need attention and focus, it's been a while since we played at high levels with this team. The players have understood that the details can cost you the qualification and not the match.
Salihi, you know Sylvinjo very well. Why is it difficult for him to change, for example, take the case of Uzun, why does he use it a little? Or Mucin. What is wrong with them, is a question that the entire opinion in Albania asks...
We have come to a stage where Sylvinjo knows all the footballers in detail. He has a strategy of his own. The technician has in his head the way he will interpret the game. The coach does not want to change much. We got used to this. If someone is missing, Sylvinjo finds the shared characteristics with someone else and activates it instead.
It is possible that Tuci was somewhat more advantaged by having a good structure, especially since in the match he played, he performed well. It would not be a surprise if he played from the start.
I am very curious, as a former striker, but also as part of the staff for many years. If you were the head coach for a day and had all the players at your disposal, what would your ideal attack be?
I would like to play with all the strikers that are available (laughs). The decisions change, the rival too, when you enter the coaching world, 1 million things go through your head. It's always difficult for the coach, he tries to make decisions to suit the rival. Sometimes what the coach has in mind works, sometimes it doesn't.
Well, let's get back to the game. Will the absences affect this meeting, because we are talking about players like Gjimshiti, Kumbulla, Manaj, Daku, I am not talking about Broja, because we are used to without him. Where do you think they will feel the most?
We have a team that those players, the leaders of the team have got that title themselves, deservedly so. Gjimshiti is one of them. I am convinced that whoever plays in his place will do well. It would be good if it was on the field, because even with the 0.5% it takes, they are there. In terms of quality, these difficult situations highlight someone else's values.
Will there be a cost to the meeting against the Czech Republic in the last challenge against Ukraine? Are accounts made in such cases, because we suffered a lot in the second meetings...
It is also this. You play in a competition where you need points, but the group is complicated and it's not worth it to deal with calculations. The next game should be the focus, other things come step by step.
