After Inzaghi and Zanet, it's Çalhanoglu's turn, the Turkish midfielder gives explanations to the police about the tricks with the head of the Inter ultras
After Inzagit, Zanet and Calabria, today it was Hakan Çalhanoglu's turn to be interviewed by investigators at the offices of the Milan Police Station, as part of the "Double Curve" investigation coordinated by the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office, Italian media reports.
On September 30, 19 ultras of Inter and Milan were arrested, as well as the leaders of Curva Nord and Curva Sud were "beheaded".
The investigation began in early September after the murder of Antonio Beloko, a leading member of Inter's Curva Nord, by Andrea Bereta, another black ultra.
Sixteen people were imprisoned and three others were placed under house arrest. Most of them are said to have ties to mafia families from Calabria and are suspected of having committed 'serious' crimes related to the football business.
To return to Çalhanoğlu, after returning from his national team engagements, he answered questions as a person informed of the facts and admitted that he met ultra leaders Marko Ferdiko and Antonio Beloko, denying however that he ever went out to dinner with them , despite what Ferdiko himself stated in a wiretap in which he referred to a "pizza party" with Calhanoglu and their families.
The former Milan player established relations with the ultras, even though Inter had advised him not to have contact with exponents of organized fans:
" I met with the ultras, but the club told me not to do it ", are the words of the Turk as reported by "La Stampa".
Çalhanoglu allegedly explained to police that he had chosen to meet Ferdiko and Beloko "in gratitude" after Curva Nord had dedicated a solidarity flag to him following the February 2023 earthquake in Turkey.
Moreover, in return, the footballer confirmed that he had also donated some jerseys to the ultras to be used for charity initiatives "for hospitalized children".
However, as for Beloko, the heir to the clan of the same name from Rosarno, who was stabbed to death in Cernusko sul Naviljo, Çalha said he learned "who Beloko really was only after seeing the photo after the news of his murder." , but also added that he "never received pressure" from him or from other ultras.
