Barcelona and Inter face off in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final on Wednesday night. Both teams will be looking for a positive result, with the Catalans looking to settle their scores in the first leg, while the Blues will be looking to do their best to have any hope of qualifying for the return leg.
Inter come into the match against Barcelona with 3 consecutive losses, being disqualified from the Italian Cup, but also losing the lead in Serie A, which is led by Napoli. On the other hand, the Catalans have the lead in La Liga, and also won the King's Cup in the final against Real Madrid.
Hansi Flick, Barcelona coach, in the press conference, described Inter as a good team in counterattacks.
"Inter are a very strong opponent, with one of the best defenses in Europe. They have a very good midfield and strong attackers. They are very dangerous on the counterattack. It will be a difficult match and we will have to be prepared. When they have possession of the ball they know how to play very well and they are one of the best in Europe on the counterattack and they are a team that I really like to watch. We want to show everything we can do and reach the final," said the German Flick.
He then said that Barcelona will aim for the Champions League final, describing the competition as the most important.
"It's a dream for everyone to be here, we have to stay focused. Today we trained well, everyone is focused on the opponent and what we have to do, as well as what we have to learn from the last match. We have to show our strength and how we can play," he said.
And as for the Blues, Flick says that Barcelona must manage the situation, as Inter plays with 5 midfielders and will aim to dominate the midfield.
"For us it is very important to keep possession of the ball and make the right decisions in defense. We have to cover the spaces, it is a fundamental thing," he said.
