Suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and was transported by helicopter to the hospital, Ajax reveals the condition of Edwin Van Der Sar

Dutch goalkeeping legend Edwin Van Der Sar is fighting for his life after suffering a cerebral haemorrhage while on holiday with his family on the Croatian island of Hvar. The 52-year-old was urgently transported by helicopter to a hospital in Croatia.

The Ajakist club, in which Van Der Sar is also the chief executive officer, has revealed the health condition of the former goalkeeper through a post on social networks.

" Edwin Van Der Sar will remain under intensive care for the moment. His condition is stable but still worrying. Ajax shares this information on behalf of Anamari Van Der Sar, Edwin's wife. The Van Der Sar family, together with Ajax, are grateful and deeply touched by the many messages of support ," the Dutch club wrote.
