The Udinese Police Chief stopped five PSG fans who were in possession of a bar, a pair of steel balls and other materials found in the trunk of the car they were trying to get to the stadium.
The five people were stopped during so-called checkpoint operations at the Udine motorway toll booth. They were driving a car with French license plates. However, a search of the vehicle found the material, along with a fireworks display and a can of black spray paint. All five were charged at large and were not allowed to attend the match.
As part of the security measures and checks, over 500 bottles of beer were also seized by local police, and seven Italian citizens were fined over 2,500 euros each for illegal trading.
In accordance with the public order and security measures in force, approximately 1,500 officers, including police, carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza and local police, were deployed over the three days between 12 and 14 August, 1,000 of whom were deployed yesterday alone.
