The trial for the death of Diego Armando Maradona takes a new turn. With 7 doctors accused, who are suspected of having shown negligence, bringing about the tragic end of the "God" of football in November 2020.
The coroner who took over the case immediately after Maradona's death testified as a witness in Buenos Aires. He was the one who examined the body and his findings support the view that there was clear negligence on the part of those responsible for monitoring the "golden boy"'s health.
Maurizio Casinelli initially reported that "Maradona had swelling from his feet to his head and a heart that weighed more than twice its normal weight." This, in fact, led him to conclude that Maradona suffered for at least 12 hours.
"He had accumulated more than 4.5 liters of water in his body, three of which were in the abdomen," the coroner added. Evidence that strengthens the position of those who insist that doctors could have saved Maradona.
At the same time, Cassinelli explained that such swellings take several days to form, they do not occur within 1 or 2 twenty-four hours. So, the negligence of the doctors was great.
