Prime Minister Edi Rama appeared this morning in the 'Sy m'sy' column, answering various questions addressed to him by his followers on social networks. After he managed to obtain his 4th consecutive government mandate on May 11, securing a majority of 83 seats in Parliament, Rama spoke about the opening of the chapters of negotiations with the EU, preparations for the NATO Summit, but also about hosting one of the most prestigious events in European football: the continental edition of the Globe Soccer Awards.
Rama said that the organizers of this annual event, which is traditionally held in Dubai for the global version, are currently in talks with two European cities for the continental edition: Madrid and Tirana.
He expressed his belief that Tirana is very likely to be chosen as the host.
"Today it is no longer unimaginable that events of this level come to us. In fact, proposals are coming to us on their own," Rama said, adding that "it would be fantastic if, for example, the award for the best footballer of the year in Europe were presented to Lamine Yamal here, in Tirana."
"We are in discussions to bring to Tirana, to Albania but with 95% in Tirana the European edition of the Globe Soccer Awards, the football globe award. It is an extraordinary event that is held annually, as for the global edition itself in Dubai and for the European edition the organizers are in discussions with Madrid and with us. Once such events were unimaginable, but proposals are coming to us even now.
"We have many reasons to believe that the choice will fall on us and it will be fantastic to give the Globe Soccer Player of the Year award to Lamine Yamal, for example, here in Tirana," said Rama.
