Albanian national football player, Rei Manaj, has shared details from his life and career in an exclusive interview on the "Opinion" show on "TV Klan", where he spoke about his beginnings, challenges and achievements in professional football.
One of the most significant moments for him, according to Manaj, was receiving his first salary as a professional footballer at the age of 16. He said that the first decision he made was to help his family.
" When I got my first salary, which was 6 thousand euros a month, I decided to fire my mother. I told her she didn't need to work anymore ," he declared.
Manaj also spoke about his sporting journey, starting from childhood. He said that he started playing football at the age of 6, while at the age of 3 he moved with his family to Italy in difficult emigration conditions. According to him, they initially returned to Albania, and then returned to Italy, where they settled in Rome and then in Piacenza.
His career took a professional turn in Italy, where he initially played with youth teams and then with the Piacenza club. According to Manaj, coach Xhixhi Simoni played an important role in his development.
At the age of 16 he signed his first professional contract with Cremonese, and just a year later he was transferred to Inter.
" It wasn't easy, because there were very big names at Inter ," he said, adding that he then continued his career at several other clubs, including Pescara and later in Spain, where he played with Albacete and Barcelona.
As for the national team, Manaj praised the team's performance in the qualifiers and highlighted his goal against Serbia as an important moment, but emphasized that the most important thing was the victory and the three points obtained in that match.
" Every experience has helped me grow as a player and as a person ," he concluded.
