Portugal has cut a ticket to the quarter-finals of the European Championship, after defeating Slovenia on penalties. The 120 minutes ended without goals, amid drama and spectacle, in the Frankfurt stadium overflowing with fans.
In the 105th minute, Ronaldo had the golden chance to give Portugal the quarter-final qualification, but the unbelievable happened. Oblak saved the Portuguese's shot.
This was the second game to go to extra time, after the one between England and Slovakia that was played yesterday.
In the 5th minute, after a corner kick, Ruben Dias shot but did not find the goal of the Slovenians.
3 minutes later, Leao delivered a golden left-footed pass to Ronaldo, but the latter was late and the Slovenian defense took the ball off his feet in the area.
In the 13th minute, another cross from the right in the area for CR7, who failed to deflect the ball with his head into the goal.
In the 18th minute, the Portuguese dominated possession, while Slovenia was well placed at the back, waiting to sting with counterattacks with Shporar and Seshko.
In the 34th minute, Ronaldo tried a frontal free kick, but the ball went over Oblak's crossbar.
In the 55th minute, Ronaldo attempted another free kick from the front, but Oblak denied the goal with his punch.
7 minutes later, Seshko launched a quick counter-attack, past Pepe, but his shot towards the goal was very wrong.
In the 72nd minute, Ronaldo's next free kick, the ball went over the crossbar of Oblak's goal.
In the 89th minute, Ronaldo had the chance to become the Portuguese hero, but his diagonal shot was blocked by Oblak.
In the quarter-finals, Portugal will face France. This challenge will be played on Friday 5th July at 21:00.
