On an exciting night for Albanian football, Shkëndija e Tetovës recorded a historic victory in the second round of Champions League qualifiers, defeating Romanian giants Steaua Bucharest 1-0. The hero of the match was Ronaldo Webster, who scored a header in the 65th minute after a perfect cross from Aleksandër Trumci, sending the stadium into ecstasy.
Shkëndija's Senegalese goalkeeper, Baboucarr Gaye, was among the best on the pitch, making several crucial saves, including a super-reflex save on a powerful shot from Cisottti and another golden save on Ngesana. The victory came as a result of admirable tactical discipline, against a team with vast international experience.
The match was also characterized by high tension; Kamer Qaka from Shkëndija and Florin Tănase from Steaua were punished with red cards in the 70' and 79' minutes. Despite several more chances to double the advantage, Steaua's goalkeeper kept the Romanians' hopes alive with saves from Latif and Adem. But it was Webster who decided everything with the golden goal that gave Shkëndija a big victory and a morale boost for the next stages of the tournament.
