Schumacher's son's friend raped nurse twice at F1 legend's residence, letters he wrote to "victim" revealed

Former Australian racing driver Joey Mawson has appeared in court in Switzerland, where he is facing charges of raping a nurse who worked for the family of Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher.

According to the prosecution, the alleged incident took place on November 23, 2019 at the Schumacher family residence in Gland, near Geneva. The charges relate to a social evening attended by several members of staff.

The woman has claimed she was raped twice while unconscious. Mawson has categorically denied the allegations, insisting the sexual intercourse was consensual.

During the court hearing, the nurse's lawyer presented messages that Mawson reportedly sent to his wife the day after the incident. In one of them, he wrote: " I am truly sorry. I am sorry for the pain I am causing you ."

When asked by the court why he apologized, whether the relationship had been consensual, Mawson did not give a direct explanation. He stated that he had consumed large amounts of alcohol and that he did not remember significant parts of the night in question.

According to the prosecution's file, the nurse had felt unwell after consuming several alcoholic drinks and was escorted to her room by colleagues, where she fell asleep. Investigators allege that Mawson then returned to the room and had sex with her while she was unconscious.

The woman said she woke up with no clear memory of what had happened and later underwent medical examinations at the hospital. Court documents also mention traces of blood on the sheets and physical injuries, which are being examined as part of the evidence in the trial.

According to reports, no members of the Schumacher family are involved in the case and they were not at the residence at the time the incident allegedly occurred.

Michael Schumacher, seven-time Formula 1 world champion, continues to receive specialized medical care following the serious skiing accident he suffered in 2013.

The trial against Joey Mawson is still ongoing and the court has not yet issued a final ruling on the case.
