During the Nations League, the most expensive ticket to watch the Italy-Germany match cost 60 euros. The two most historic national teams on the European continent were playing.
Last night, at the “National Arena”, the most expensive ticket to watch the Albania-Andorra match cost 100 euros. We were playing against a modest team, with completely unknown players.
The result was clear. Around 5,000 empty seats in a stadium that could have been full to support the red and black team on its journey to the 2026 World Cup.
We hope that the Albanian Football Federation will reflect on this, because the national team should be a source of pleasure and excitement for all segments of the population. The national team is not a club that plays in the Champions League, in the elite of European football.
Albania is not Germany or Switzerland. We live in a country with an average salary of 600-700 euros per month. Albanian families cannot afford to pay 100 euros for a ticket.
If there is no reflection, then it will be increasingly difficult for parents to take their children to the stadium and the images of European stadiums with grandparents, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren watching football will continue to seem utopian to us.
