Sporting Lisbon have won the Portuguese league title for the second consecutive season. The title was secured in the final match of the championship with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Guimaraes.
Goals from Pedro Gonçalves and striker Viktor Gyökeres sealed the victory, sparking widespread celebrations across the capital, as Sporting made history.
The team celebrated the title with fans in Marques de Pombao Square, lit up in the team's traditional green colors.
Sporting, who became champion for the 21st time, has reached the top three of the championship trophy for the second time in a row and the third in the last 5 seasons.
The capital club dominated the league, finishing with 82 points, two points ahead of rivals Benfica, who drew 1-1 with Sporting Braga. In early November 2024, their manager Ruben Amorim left to take over as manager of Manchester United.
