Bad news comes from Italy for Albanian national team player Medon Berisha. The midfielder has suffered a muscle injury in his right leg, ending his season with Lecce prematurely.
The Italian club confirmed the news through an official statement, stating that the injury occurred during an individual training session on Saturday. According to the statement, Berisha has suffered an injury to his right femoral muscle, while examinations carried out this Monday also revealed tendon involvement.
"It is an injury in a different area than the previous one, suffered during the recovery phase," the Lecce club emphasizes, adding concern about the player's condition.
Next, Berisha is expected to undergo a consultation with specialists in Finland on Wednesday, to decide whether surgical intervention will be necessary, which could be performed as early as Thursday.
Whatever the medical decision, one thing is certain: the Albanian midfielder will not return to the field for the remainder of this season.
Meanwhile, Berisha was not called up by coach Sylvinho for the national team's matches in the 2026 World Cup play-off phase, which gives him the necessary time to fully recover and return to optimal form for next season.
