The surprise introduction of Rolando Maran as the new coach of the Albanian National Team has surprised the sports community. At a time when attention was focused on the future of Silvinho and discussions about whether or not to continue the collaboration with the Brazilian, the president of the Albanian Football Association, Armand Duka, chose to introduce his successor to the red and black bench immediately after his departure.
Maran's name had not been previously mentioned in the media and remains little known to a good part of the sports public. However, the federation has entrusted the Italian with the leadership of the national team with a contract until 2028, which also includes an automatic renewal clause in case Albania manages to secure qualification for "EURO 2028". The same formula was previously applied in the agreement with Silvinho.
According to sources close to the Federation, Maran is considered a low-cost choice for the AFF, as his monthly salary will be around 30 thousand euros.
At the extraordinary conference organized by the Albanian Football Association, Silvinho took the floor after President Duka and left with grateful tones, without public controversy. However, Brazilian media reports a different version regarding the end of cooperation between the parties.
According to "Gazeta Esportiva", contrary to Duka's statement that there was a mutual understanding not to continue, Silvinjo did not receive an offer for contract renewal from the Albanian Football Federation, which led to his departure from the management of the National Team.
