UEFA must urgently intervene with new rules, the Premier League will soon

The Premier League continues to prove itself to be the most powerful league in world football, not only in terms of sport, but above all in terms of the financial power it possesses. The case of Waltmaid's transfer is the latest example that highlights this dominance.

Bayern Munich had been negotiating with Stuttgart for two months, but in the end Newcastle managed to close the deal for a whopping €90 million, at least €20 million more than the German club was asking for from the Bavarians. This is a clear indication that English clubs operate in a different economic reality.

This financial disparity gives English clubs a significant advantage in the transfer market and in building competitive teams, widening the gap with other leagues such as the Bundesliga, La Liga or Serie A.

While English teams have the luxury of paying inflated prices and attracting the best players, other European clubs are forced to be more cautious, often losing their stars to dizzying offers from England.

However, the question arises as to whether this Premier League dominance is good for European football as a whole. In the short term, it may seem like an engine that increases market value and creates spectacle, but in the long term, this inequality could damage real competition between clubs in Europe.

If only English clubs have a realistic chance of building super-teams, then the Champions League and other competitions risk losing the sporting balance that makes them attractive. To maintain the balance, UEFA may need to intervene with stricter financial rules.
